Ingredients
  

Materials Needed

  • a variety colors Crayons (any colors) Regular wax crayons work best.
  • 1 piece Canvas or heavy cardstock
  • 1 unit Hairdryer or heat gun A hairdryer works well as an alternative.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper (optional) Optional for protecting the canvas.
  • 1 roll Painter's tape (optional) Used to secure crayons in place.
  • 1 piece Old newspaper or drop cloth For protecting your workspace.
  • 1 pair Gloves (optional) Optional for handling melted wax.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Lay down old newspaper or a drop cloth to protect your surfaces from crayon drips and wax.
  • Select a canvas or heavy cardstock as the base for your artwork.

Arrange the Crayons

  • Select your favorite crayon colors to use in your design.
  • Arrange the crayons along the top edge of your canvas in a straight line or create patterns.
  • Use painter's tape to hold the crayons in place or glue them for a more permanent attachment.

Melt the Crayons

  • Using a hairdryer or heat gun, hold it a few inches away from the crayons.
  • As the heat warms the crayons, they will start to melt and drip down the canvas.
  • Adjust the heat intensity and angle to control the melting and dripping process.
  • Move the heat source around for a varied effect.

Finish Your Art

  • Let the piece cool down completely.
  • If desired, add additional elements like glitter or paint to enhance your artwork.

Notes

Experiment with different color combinations, surfaces, and shapes for unique effects. Supervision is recommended for younger children when using heat tools.
