Materials

  • 1 selection A selection of fabric scraps (cotton, felt, or any preferred material)
  • 1 piece Scissors
  • 1 bottle Craft glue or hot glue gun For attaching fabric pieces
  • 1 piece Miniature wooden dowels or sturdy tree branches To create the tree trunk
  • 1 piece Styrofoam or cardboard base For holding the tree structure
  • 1 assorted Decorative elements (e.g., beads, buttons, ribbons) To embellish your tree
  • 1 optional Paint or markers For added details if desired

Instructions

Preparation

  • Step 1: Choose either a Styrofoam ball or a thick piece of cardboard as the base. If using cardboard, cut it into a cone shape for a tree form.
  • Step 2: Cut your chosen fabric into small squares or triangles, approximately 2-3 inches in size. Vary the sizes for a more textured look.
  • Step 3: Start from the bottom of the base and work your way up. Apply glue to the base and stick the first piece of fabric. Smooth it down gently.
  • Continue adding fabric pieces, overlapping them slightly, until the entire base is covered.
  • Step 4: Once your tree is covered, embellish it with beads, buttons, or ribbons and use glue to attach these decorative details.
  • Step 5: If using a wooden dowel, insert it into the base for a sturdy tree trunk. Let everything dry thoroughly before displaying your mini fabric scrap trees.
