Preparation
- Choose a clear container to showcase the lava lamp effect.
- Ensure the containers are clean and dry before starting.
Filling the Container
- Fill the container about one-third full with water.
- Feel how the water settles at the bottom, forming a solid base.
Adding Oil
- Carefully add vegetable oil until the container is nearly full.
- Watch as the oil floats atop the water, noting the beautiful contrast.
Adding Color
- Use a dropper to add a few drops of food coloring into the container.
- Enjoy the sight of vibrant drops dancing through the oil.
Creating the Lava Effect
- Break an Alka-Seltzer tablet into pieces and add them one at a time.
- As the tablet reacts, bubbles will start rising, creating a mesmerizing lava effect.

Notes
