Ingredients
Resin Materials
- 1 batch Epoxy resin (clear)
- 1 batch Hardener for the resin
- 1 mold Heart-shaped silicone dish mold
- 1-2 cups Mixing cups
- 3 minutes Mixing sticks
Colors and Embellishments
- multiple shades Acrylic paints (multiple shades of blue, white, and green)
- optional amount Glitter
- as desired amount Sea-inspired embellishments (tiny shells, sand, etc.)
Safety and Protection
- 1 pair Gloves
- 1 mask Mask (to avoid inhaling fumes)
- 1 drop cloth Drop cloth or newspaper for protection
Instructions
Preparation
- Clear a flat surface for crafting. Lay down a drop cloth or old newspapers to catch any spills.
- Put on gloves and a mask for protection against fumes.
Mixing the Resin
- In a mixing cup, measure equal parts of resin and hardener.
- Use a mixing stick to blend for at least 3 minutes, ensuring no bubbles remain.
Adding Color
- Add drops of acrylic paint into the mixed resin to achieve ocean colors.
- Use a stick to gently swirl the colors without fully combining them for a more natural look.
Pouring Into the Mold
- Start by pouring a thin layer of colored resin into the heart mold.
- Wait for it to slightly set before adding additional colors or embellishments.
Incorporating Embellishments
- Carefully place tiny shells or glitter into the resin to simulate the ocean floor.
- Finish with a final layer of clear resin.
Curing the Resin
- Allow the dish to cure as per the resin instructions, usually 24 hours.
- If bubbles appear, use a lighter to gently pop them before it fully sets.
Demolding and Finishing Touches
- Once fully cured, gently peel the mold away from the resin.
- Sand down any rough edges with fine sandpaper.
