  • 1 container Mod Podge (gloss or matte) Both types work beautifully.
  • 1 small brush or sponge Small brush or sponge for application Use for applying Mod Podge.
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting the tissue paper.
  • 1 piece Clear plastic or glass for your suncatcher A clear plastic lid works well.
  • 1 bowl Bowl of water Optional, for moistening tissue paper for a softer texture.

Preparation

  • Lay down some newspaper or a plastic sheet to protect your surface. Light a candle or play soft music if that helps set the mood.
  • Take your colorful tissue paper and gently tear it into small pieces. The irregular edges add to the unique charm of your suncatcher.
  • Before gluing, arrange your tissue pieces on your clear surface to form a pattern.

Assembly

  • Use your brush or sponge to coat your clear surface with a thin layer of Mod Podge.
  • Gently press the torn pieces of tissue paper onto the Mod Podge layer, overlapping some pieces to let the colors mix for a stained-glass effect.
  • Once satisfied with your design, apply another layer of Mod Podge over the top to seal your artwork and add a glossy finish.
  • Allow the suncatcher to dry completely. This is a perfect moment to take a tea break, appreciating your creative journey.
  • Once dry, hang your suncatcher in a window to catch the light.

Notes

Handle with care to preserve your suncatcher. Keep it out of direct contact with water and use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Consider refreshing its decor by moving it around your home.
