  • 2-3 colors Acrylic paints (silver, gray, or any moon-inspired colors)
  • 1 set Paintbrushes
  • 1 optional Glitter Optional for added decoration
  • 1 piece Twine or string For hanging
  • 1 piece Scissors
  • 1 optional Clear sealant Optional for finished look
  • 1 sheet Wax paper For workspace protection

Instructions

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface and cover it with wax paper to protect from clay or paint spills.

Shaping

  • Take a portion of air-dry clay.
  • Knead the clay until it's soft and workable.
  • Roll the clay into a ball, then gently flatten it with your hands or a rolling pin to form a round shape.

Texturing

  • Use your fingers or tools to carve craters and surface details on the moon.
  • Explore a variety of textures; the more detailed, the better!

Drying

  • Place the shaped moon on a flat surface and let it air dry completely (this may take 24-48 hours).

Painting

  • Once dry, use a paintbrush to apply a coat of acrylic paint.
  • Allow the first coat to dry before adding additional layers for depth.

Glittering

  • While the paint is still slightly tacky, sprinkle glitter to add a magical touch.

Sealing

  • Once fully painted and decorated, consider applying a clear sealant to protect your creation.

Hanging

  • Cut a piece of twine or string, and attach it to the moon for displaying.

Notes

Tips & Variations: Swap materials for different results, mix colors for unique shades or use metallic paints, add small stars or planets for a lunar scene.
