Materials
- 1 bag Air-dry clay (white or colored) Choose any color you prefer.

Instructions
Preparation
- Clear a flat surface and cover it with parchment paper or a silicone mat for easy cleanup.
Shaping
- Take a chunk of air-dry clay and knead it for a few minutes.
- Use a rolling pin to flatten the clay to about 1/4 inch thickness.
Cutting and Detailing
- Using templates or freehand, cut out crescent, half, and full moon shapes from the rolled-out clay with your craft knife.
- Smooth edges with your fingers or sandpaper.
- If you plan to hang your decorations, use a straw or small tool to create holes at the top of each moon shape.
Drying
- Place your cut-out moons on a drying rack or cookie sheet and allow them to air dry completely (typically 24 hours).
Painting (Optional)
- Once dry, paint your moon phases with acrylic paint. Experiment with colors and techniques! Allow the paint to dry.
Sealing (Optional)
- To add durability, apply a sealer once the paint has dried.
Finishing Touch
- Thread twine or string through the holes to create a hanging display or attach them to a wall.
Notes
Experiment with metallic or pastel paints for different effects. Use stamps or natural items (like leaves) to create patterns on your moon phases. Create mini moon phases for earrings or larger ones for statement wall art.
