  • 1 cup wild bird seed mix Select a mix that suits the local bird species.
  • 1 length twine or string Ensure it's strong enough to hold the apple.

  • 1 piece knife For adult use only to cut the apple.
  • 1 piece spoon For spreading the peanut butter.
  • Optional small decorative items (like dried flowers or leaves) For personalizing the feeder.

Preparation

  • Slice the apple in half horizontally, revealing the core.
  • Use your knife to create a small hole at the top of each apple half for the twine.

Assembly

  • Take your spoon and generously spread peanut butter inside the hollow sections of the apple.
  • Make sure to cover the sides well to hold the seeds.
  • Sprinkle the wild bird seed mix over the peanut butter and press lightly to ensure the seeds adhere well.
  • Cut a length of twine (about 12 inches long) and thread it through the hole at the top of the apple, creating a loop for hanging.
  • Find a suitable spot outdoors to hang your apple feeder on a tree branch or a hook.
