Ingredients

For the feeder

  • 2 pieces apples (any variety)
  • 1 cup peanut butter (or nut butter alternative) Ensure it's bird-safe and unsweetened.
  • 1 cup birdseed mix You can substitute with crushed nuts, oats, or dry cereal.
  • 1 piece twine or string Cut a length of about 12 inches.
  • 1 piece knife For safely slicing the apples.
  • 1 piece spoon For hollowing out the apples.
  • 1 piece plate To hold the birdseed for coating the apples.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Slice each apple in half to create two equal halves.
  • Use a spoon to gently scoop out some apple flesh from the center, creating a small bowl for the birdseed.

Applying Peanut Butter

  • Spread a generous amount of peanut butter inside the hollowed section of each apple half.

Adding Birdseed

  • Roll the peanut butter-coated apple half in birdseed until fully covered.

Attaching Twine

  • Cut a length of twine or string (about 12 inches long) and tie it securely around the stem of each apple half.

Hanging Your Feeders

  • Find a visible spot in your yard or balcony to hang the feeders.
  • Securely tie the twine to a tree branch, hook, or bird feeder pole.

Notes

Consider making fruit skewers by alternating apple halves with other fruits. Decorate apples with natural twine or festive embellishments. Monitor the feeders and replace if they become mushy or moldy.
