Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar Helps improve elasticity

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (optional) Use for vibrant colors
  • Essential oils (optional for scent)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar.
  • In a separate bowl or saucepan, mix the water, vegetable oil, and food coloring (if using).

Cooking

  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and stir well until combined.
  • Place the mixture on medium heat while continuing to stir. It will begin to thicken.
  • Once the dough forms and becomes difficult to stir, turn it onto a floured surface.
  • Allow it to cool slightly before kneading it with your hands. Knead until smooth and elastic.

Finishing Touches

  • For a fun twist, add a few drops of essential oils during the kneading process.
  • Place your play dough in an airtight container or sealable plastic bag to keep it fresh.

Notes

Experiment with color mixing using different food colors for unique shades, or incorporate small beads or glitter for added fun. For gluten-free play dough, substitute all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend.
