Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can use whole wheat flour for a denser texture.
  • 1 cup salt Regular table salt works fine.
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar Can be replaced with lemon juice or vinegar.

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water Warm water helps dissolve the ingredients.
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil

Optional Add-Ins

  • as desired food coloring Add various colors for customization.
  • as desired essential oils For added scent.

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar. Stir until evenly mixed.

Combine Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, mix 2 cups of warm water with 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil. If using, add food coloring and essential oils to the water mixture.

Combine Mixtures

  • Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture while stirring continuously until the dough starts to come together.

Knead the Playdough

  • Transfer the mixture onto a clean surface and knead the dough for 5-10 minutes until smooth and non-sticky.

Notes

Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness. Playdough can last up to a month when stored properly. You can also freeze it for long-term storage.
