Assembly

  • Using the funnel, fill the bottle about one-third full with water.
  • Add a few drops of blue food coloring for the ocean effect. Stir until evenly mixed.
  • If using seashells or beads, place them into the bottle now. Consider adding a pinch of glitter for an enchanting sparkle.
  • Slowly pour the vegetable oil to fill the bottle almost to the top, leaving a little space.
  • If desired, add a tablespoon of glycerin for thicker liquid movement.
  • Tightly secure the lid to prevent any leaks.
  • Give it a gentle shake to mix everything up!

Enjoyment

  • Place your ocean bottle on a shelf or desk and watch the waves 'crash.'

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring for unique ocean hues, like turquoise or teal. Include miniature ocean creatures for an interactive aspect. Swap vegetable oil with baby oil for a more pronounced separation effect. For a beachy feel, add a layer of sand at the bottom before the water.
