Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup Baking soda
  • 1/4 cup Vinegar Can experiment with other acidic liquids.
  • 1/2 cup Cornstarch Optional for texture.
  • as needed Food coloring (blue, green, etc.) Customize your ocean-inspired designs.
  • optional Seashells, glitter, or sand For decoration.

Tools and Materials

  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Tray or baking sheet
  • 1 Plastic wrap For storage.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Find a clean, flat surface to work on. Lay down newspaper or a plastic sheet for easy cleanup.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of baking soda with 1/2 cup of cornstarch (if using). Stir well until evenly mixed.
  • Add several drops of food coloring to the dry mixture. Use a spoon or your hands to knead the color in until you achieve your desired ocean hue.

Crafting the Ocean Sculptures

  • Shape your colored mixture into various ocean-themed designs: waves, sea animals, or shells. Place these shapes on a tray or baking sheet.
  • Carefully pour 1/4 cup of vinegar over your creations on the tray. Watch as bubbles form, mimicking the sea foam!

Drying

  • If you want your sculptures to harden, let them sit out to dry for several hours or overnight. Use plastic wrap to cover if needed.

Notes

Customize colors and textures by using different food colorings and adding sand or shells. Increase baking soda and cornstarch for sturdier sculptures.
