Materials

  • 1 assorted pack Assorted glass or acrylic beads in ocean colors (blue, green, turquoise) Choose a variety of shapes and sizes.
  • 1 length Clear nylon or fishing line About 2-3 feet long.
  • 1 piece Scissors For cutting the line.
  • 1 piece Beading needle To help string the beads.
  • 1 piece Metal hoop or wooden circle Used as a base for the suncatcher.
  • Optional Seashells, sea glass, or other beach-themed decorations For adding decorative flair.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Lay out your workspace with all materials gathered. Ensure it’s a clean, flat surface.

String the Beads

  • Cut a length of nylon or fishing line (about 2-3 feet).
  • Thread a beading needle onto the line for easier bead placement.
  • Start adding beads to the line, alternating colors and shapes to mimic ocean waves.

Secure the Beads

  • Once you’ve reached your desired length, tie a sturdy knot at the end to secure the beads in place.
  • Trim any excess line, leaving a small tail for further securing.

Attach to the Base

  • If using a metal hoop or wooden circle, tie the beaded strand around the hoop, spacing them out evenly.
  • For a more organic look, some strands can hang at varying lengths.

Finishing Touch

  • Add any additional decorations like seashells or sea glass by gluing or tying them onto the hoop.

Hang and Enjoy

  • Find a sunny window to hang your new suncatcher. Watch as it catches natural light, reflecting colors and creating beautiful patterns.

Notes

Customize your suncatcher with colors and shapes. Use different types of beads like wooden or ceramic for varied texture. You can also incorporate natural elements like driftwood or faux plants for a more organic feel.
