  • 2 cups cornstarch Main ingredient for Oobleck.
  • 1 cup water Required to activate the cornstarch.
  • Food coloring (optional) Add to create colorful Oobleck.

Preparation

  • Gather all your materials including the mixing bowl and spoon.
  • Pour 2 cups of cornstarch into your mixing bowl.
  • Slowly add 1 cup of water to the cornstarch, pouring a little at a time.
  • Use a spoon to stir the cornstarch and water together until well mixed.
  • Test the consistency by using your hands: it should feel solid when squeezed and liquid when released.
  • If using, add a few drops of food coloring and mix until incorporated.

Notes

Oobleck is best used fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days. Supervise young children during play.
