  • 1 tablespoon vinegar Creates the fizzing reaction.
  • various food coloring Use a variety of colors for creative potions.

  • 1 unit clear plastic cups or jars Used to hold the potions.
  • 1 unit mixing spoons For mixing the potion ingredients.
  • 1 unit safety goggles For fun and protection during the experiment.
  • 1 unit tray or waterproof surface For easy cleanup of potion spills.

Preparation

  • Find a flat, outdoor surface to work on.
  • Lay down a waterproof tablecloth or tray for easy cleanup.
  • Gather all materials, ensuring they are within reach.
  • Put on safety goggles for added fun and protection.

Creating the Potion

  • In a clear cup, add 2 tablespoons of baking soda.
  • Pour in a few drops of food coloring to create a base color of your choice.
  • Mix with a spoon to blend the color thoroughly.
  • Slowly pour in 1 tablespoon of vinegar and watch the fizzing action!
  • Observe how the bubbles rise and overflow. This is your potion coming to life!
  • If desired, use essential oils to give your potion a lovely smell.
  • Mix in a few drops after the fizzing has settled for a gentle blend.
  • Try different food color combinations or varying amounts of vinegar and baking soda.
  • Note the differences in fizz and color!

Encourage everyone to name their potions for added fun. Keep paper towels handy for spills.
