  • a few pieces waterproof toys (rubber ducks, sea creatures, etc.) For added play value.
  • optional as needed food coloring or natural dyes To create vibrant colors in the water.
  • 1-2 pieces towels for cleanup To dry off children and clean the area.

Preparation

  • Choose a flat surface outdoors, like a patio or backyard, where spills will cause no concern.
  • Gather all the materials listed for easy access.

Setup

  • Pour water into the bin, filling it to a safe level. If desired, add a few drops of food coloring to create a vibrant splash!
  • Introduce plastic cups, spoons, and other toys into the bin. Encourage children to explore by arranging the items in different ways.
  • Place stones, leaves, and flowers around or in the water to enhance sensory exploration. Encourage children to ask questions about the items.

Supervision and Engagement

  • While children play, observe and engage with them. Ask open-ended questions to facilitate imagination and discovery.

Cleanup

  • Once playtime is over, let children help dry off with towels and safely dispose of any natural items.

Notes

Customize textures by adding sponges, foam balls, or bubbles for different sensory experiences. Create seasonal themes for the bin, like a winter wonderland or beach scene. Safe alternatives like sand or rice can also be used if water is not suitable.
