Craft Materials

  • 3 pieces Paper plates (black or white) Black plates are ideal, but white can be painted.
  • 1 bottle Black paint or markers Use for coloring the wings.
  • 1 pieces Scissors For cutting the paper plates.
  • 1 optional Googly eyes Optional for decoration.
  • 1 stick Glue or a glue stick For assembling the bats.
  • 1 length String or yarn For hanging the bats.
  • 1 optional Optional embellishments (like glitter or stickers) For additional decoration.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather Your Materials: Ensure you have all your supplies assembled in one area.
  • Protect Your Workspace: Lay down some newspaper or a plastic covering to keep things tidy.

Create the Bat Wings

  • Cut the Plates: Take a paper plate and cut it in half to create two wings.
  • Shape the Wings: Trim the edges to form points or curves, giving them a bat-like appearance.

Add the Face

  • Paint or Color: Use black paint or markers to color the wings (if using white plates), leaving the center area untouched for the face.
  • Attach Googly Eyes: If you have googly eyes, glue them in the center of the plate where the face would be.

Assemble Your Bats

  • Create the Body: You can use another smaller piece of paper or even a rolled-up piece of paper for the bat’s body, gluing it just beneath the eyes.
  • Add String: Cut a piece of string or yarn. Glue one end to the top of the bat’s head for hanging.

Display Your Bats

  • Find Your Spot: Choose a place to hang your bats, like a doorway or ceiling.
  • Enjoy!: Step back and admire your spooky decorations!

Notes

Customize your colors and swap materials for creativity! Consider using cardstock for sturdier bats or pre-cut plates for younger kids.
