Ingredients
  

Materials for Crafting

  • 1 roll Empty paper towel rolls or toilet paper rolls Clean and free of residue.
  • 1 bottle Yellow glow-in-the-dark paint or yellow craft paint Glow-in-the-dark paint preferred for visual effect.
  • 1 sheet Black construction paper For making wings.
  • 2 pieces Googly eyes For the firefly's eyes.
  • 1 pair Scissors For cutting paper.
  • 1 tube Glue or tape To assemble parts.
  • 1 light LED tea lights For adding a glowing effect.

Optional Decorations

  • as desired various Markers, glitter, or additional decorative materials For personalizing your fireflies.

Instructions
 

Preparing the Paper Rolls

  • Ensure the paper rolls are free of any leftover paper or residue.
  • If using a toilet paper roll, cut it in half for easier handling.

Painting

  • Apply a coat of yellow glow-in-the-dark paint to the outside of the roll using a brush for smooth coverage.
  • Add multiple coats if the glow is too faint.

Creating the Wings

  • Cut out wing shapes from the black construction paper, varying sizes for whimsy.
  • Make sure to have two wings for each firefly.

Assembling the Firefly

  • Use glue or tape to secure the wings to the back of the painted roll.
  • Glue googly eyes to the front of your firefly's body.

Final Touches

  • Place the LED tea light inside the paper roll to create a soft, glowing effect.
  • Watch as it illuminates your creation with a warm glow!

Notes

Try using different colors for the body paint or wings for a varied look. You can also use stickers for embellishing or create multiple fireflies to craft a glowing centerpiece.
