Ingredients

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup vinegar White vinegar works best.
  • Red, white, and blue food coloring Use drops to achieve desired color.

  • 1 packet Pop-Rocks candy Add right before serving.
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking tray or drop cloth To catch overflow.
  • Cupcake liners (optional) For serving the foam.
  • Spoon or spatula For mixing and serving.

Preparation

  • Lay down a baking tray or drop cloth to catch any overflow.
  • Gather all materials in one area for easy access.

Mix the Foam Base

  • In a large mixing bowl, add 1 cup of baking soda.
  • Gradually pour in 1/2 cup of vinegar and watch it fizz and bubble!

Color it Up

  • Add drops of red, white, and blue food coloring to the foamy mixture.
  • Stir gently until you achieve a marbled patriotic effect.

Create Your Presentation

  • If desired, place cupcake liners in the baking tray.
  • Spoon the foam into the liners, filling them generously to create heights.

Add the Pop-Rocks

  • Just before serving, sprinkle Pop-Rocks candy over the foam.
  • Listen for the pops and crackles as they react with the moisture!

Notes

For a thicker foam, adjust the baking soda and vinegar proportions. Incorporate edible glitter for added sparkle.
