  • 1 bag Hard peppermint candies (such as starlight mints) Choose various colors for a festive look.
  • 1 sheet Parchment paper For lining the baking sheet.
  • 1 optional Cookie cutter For creating shapes with the melted candies.
  • 1 roll Ribbon or twine For hanging the ornaments.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to preheat.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Unwrap the peppermint candies and arrange them in your desired shapes on the parchment paper. Use a cookie cutter if desired.

Baking

  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for about 5 to 8 minutes until the candies melt but do not bubble.
  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let it sit for a minute.
  • If desired, gently reshape the melted candies using the cookie cutter.
  • Allow the candies to cool completely for about 10 to 15 minutes.

Finishing Touches

  • Use a skewer or toothpick to create a hole at the top for stringing your ribbon or twine.
  • Thread the ribbon through the hole and tie a knot for hanging.

Notes

Use various colors and flavors of hard candies for a rainbow effect. Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container to maintain freshness. These ornaments can be made weeks in advance.
