Ingredients

Materials

  • 1 large Pinecone (fresh or dried) Select a healthy, open, and dry pinecone.
  • 1 jar Peanut butter (smooth or chunky) Use safe alternatives for nut allergies, if needed.
  • 1 cup Birdseed (any variety) Customize depending on the birds you want to attract.
  • 1 piece String or twine (optional, for hanging) Use to hang the bird feeder.
  • 1 piece Butter knife or spoon For spreading the peanut butter.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Select a healthy pinecone that’s open and dry. Shake off any debris or loose scales.

Spreading

  • Using a butter knife or spoon, generously coat the pinecone with peanut butter. Ensure it’s evenly covered, filling in all crevices for maximum seed adhesion.

Applying Seed

  • Roll the peanut butter-covered pinecone in birdseed. Gently press the seeds into the peanut butter to help them stick.

Hanging

  • If you want to hang your feeder, tie a piece of string or twine around the top of the pinecone, making sure it’s secure.

Displaying

  • Find a suitable spot in your yard or garden to hang the feeder. Choose a location that’s visible for birdwatching but also safe from predators.

Notes

Customize your pincone feeder with different types of birdseed, dried fruits, nuts, or natural decorations. Use non-allergenic alternatives to peanut butter for children with allergies.
