Preparation

  • Lay out your materials on a clean, flat surface.
  • Preheat your oven to the lowest setting (around 200°F or 93°C).

Color the Sugar

  • In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar with a few drops of pink food coloring.
  • Mix thoroughly until the color is evenly distributed; you can add more coloring for a deeper hue.

Add Fragrance

  • Add a few drops of your chosen flavoring (vanilla or cotton candy) to the colored sugar.
  • Stir well, ensuring that the sugar absorbs the fragrance evenly.

Spread and Dry

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Spread the colored sugar mixture evenly across the sheet.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and allow it to bake for about 20-30 minutes. Keep an eye on it to avoid melting.

Cool and Store

  • Once dried, remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the sugar cool completely.
  • Carefully break up any clumps and transfer the crystals to an airtight container for storage.
