  • 2-3 sheets Parchment paper or wax paper To place flowers between during pressing.
  • 1 unit Cardstock or canvas for framing The backing for your pressed flower design.
  • Craft glue Craft glue For adhering flowers to the backing.
  • Mod Podge or clear sealant (optional) Mod Podge or clear sealant (optional) For sealing the pressed flowers.
  • 1 pair Scissors For trimming flowers and backing.
  • 1 unit Tweezers (optional) For careful placement of flowers.

Preparation

  • Step 1: Gather Your Flowers - Select fresh, vibrant flowers free of blemishes. Trim stems and leaves as necessary, keeping only the blooms.
  • Step 2: Prepare for Pressing - Place the flowers between sheets of parchment paper. Use a heavy book or flower press to apply consistent pressure.
  • Step 3: Press the Flowers - Leave flowers to press for 1-2 weeks in a cool, dry place. Check periodically for dryness; they should feel crisp and flat.
  • Step 4: Arrange Your Design - Once pressed, carefully remove flowers using tweezers. Experiment with different arrangements on your chosen backing (cardstock or canvas).
  • Step 5: Adhere the Flowers - Apply craft glue to the backs of flowers and place them on the backing. Press down gently to secure them.
  • Step 6: Seal (Optional) - For a finished look, brush Mod Podge or clear sealant over the top. Allow to dry completely.

Notes

Try combining different types of flowers for a diverse look, experiment with different shapes and sizes of backing materials, and consider layering flowers or adding embellishments.
