Prepare the Gel

  • In a heat-safe bowl, combine 1 cup of cornstarch with 2 cups of water.
  • Pour the mixture into a saucepan and heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens to a gel-like consistency.
  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Create Your Ornaments

  • Line your silicone mold or cookie cutters with wax paper for easy removal.
  • Place your pressed flowers into the mold, arranging them as you like.
  • Carefully pour the cornstarch gel over the flowers, ensuring they are fully submerged.
  • Allow the gel to set for a few hours or until it solidifies completely.

Remove and Hang

  • Gently peel the ornament from the mold or the wax paper.
  • Use a small hole punch or needle to make a hole at the top and thread your string or fishing line through for hanging.

Notes

For a more complex look, let the first layer of gel set slightly, then add more flowers before topping with more gel. Experiment with food coloring in your cornstarch gel for added flair. Consider making a set of ornaments for different seasons using seasonal flowers.
