Instructions

Preparation

  • Choose a selection of small flowers and leaves; daisies, pansies, or ferns work beautifully.
  • Trim stems, keeping only the flower heads and leaves.

Pressing

  • Place flowers between two sheets of parchment paper.
  • Put the parchment paper inside a heavy book to press them flat.
  • Leave for at least a week to ensure complete drying.

Creating the Suncatcher

  • Once flowers are dried, take the clear contact paper or acrylic sheet.
  • Peel off one side of the contact paper and lay it sticky side up.
  • Arrange the pressed flowers in a pleasing design on the sticky surface.

Sealing and Hanging

  • Place another piece of contact paper over the flowers, sealing them inside.
  • Trim the edges to your desired shape (circles, hearts, squares).
  • Use a craft knife to create a small hole at the top for hanging.
  • Thread string or ribbon through the hole and secure it.

Notes

Consider changing up the medium by using leaves, dried herbs, or even feathers. Experiment with different flower combinations for varied colors and patterns. You can also create seasonal themes for holidays using different flowers or decorations.
