Ingredients
  

For the foam eruption

  • 1/2 cup Baking soda
  • 1 cup White vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dish soap This helps create the foam.
  • variety of Food coloring Use a range of colors to enhance the activity.
  • 1 Funnel Optional, for ease of pouring.
  • 1 Tray or shallow container To catch the foam.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Place your tray or shallow container on a flat surface to catch the overflow of foam.
  • In your container, add 1/2 cup of baking soda evenly across the bottom.
  • Pour 1 tablespoon of dish soap over the baking soda.
  • In separate cups, mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with a few drops of different food coloring.
  • Using a funnel, slowly pour one colored vinegar solution over the baking soda mixture.
  • Stand back and enjoy the eruption as colorful foam spills over the container!
  • Try each of your color mixtures one at a time to see how the reactions differ!

Notes

Experiment with different shades by mixing food coloring. Substitute baking soda with cornstarch for a slightly different texture. Add biodegradable glitter for a magical touch. Warm vinegar can create a more dramatic reaction.
