Ingredients

Materials

  • 5 pieces Old CDs (the more colorful, the better)
  • 1 roll String or fishing line (clear works beautifully)
  • 1 piece Scissors (sharp enough to cut through string)
  • 1 piece Pliers (optional, for working with fishing line)
  • 1 piece Hole punch (for creating holes in CDs)
  • optional to taste Beads or charms (to enhance your strands, optional)
  • 1 can Clear varnish or sealant (to protect your finished piece, optional)

Instructions

Preparation

  • If your CDs have labels, gently peel them off to reveal the glossy surface underneath.
  • Measure and cut several lengths of string or fishing line. Vary the sizes for added interest.
  • Using a hole punch, carefully create holes at the top and bottom of each CD.

Assembly

  • Thread the string through the holes you created, allowing each CD to hang freely.
  • Place beads or charms on your string between the CDs, enjoying the gentle clinks they create.
  • Tie a knot at the end of your string to secure each strand.

Finishing Touches

  • If using clear varnish, lightly coat your CDs and allow them to dry fully before displaying.

Notes

To prolong the life of your sun catchers, store them away from direct sunlight when not displayed. Wrapping them in a soft cloth or placing them in a protective box helps keep their colors vibrant.
