Ingredients
For the Crystal Solution
- 1 cup Borax
- 2 cups Water Use for boiling
For the Trees
- various pieces Pipe cleaners Use various colors for a rainbow effect
- 1 string String To hang the trees
- 1 stick Wooden stick or pencil To hang the tree from the jar
- optional drops Food coloring For vibrant colors
To Contain the Trees
- 1 jar Jar or glass container
Instructions
Preparation
- Twist pipe cleaners into tree shapes. Use multiple colors for a rainbow effect.
- Attach a string to the top of each tree for hanging.
Making the Solution
- In a pot, boil 2 cups of water.
- Gradually add 1 cup of Borax, stirring until dissolved completely.
- Optional: Add a few drops of food coloring for vibrant colors.
Submerging the Trees
- Place your pipe cleaner trees in the jar, ensuring they don’t touch the sides or each other.
- Hang the trees from the wooden stick over the jar, allowing them to dangle in the solution.
Waiting for Crystallization
- Set the jar in a cool, undisturbed area and wait for at least 6-24 hours.
- Observe the process as crystals form around the trees, transforming them into a rainbow crystal forest.
Enjoying Your Creation
- Once the desired crystallization is achieved, remove the trees from the jar.
- Let them dry on a paper towel and display your beautiful forest.
