Materials
- 1 cup Borax For creating the solution
- 2 cups Boiling water To mix the Borax
- various pieces Pipe cleaners In various colors, for the snowflake shapes
- 1 piece String To suspend the snowflake
- 1 piece Pencil or stick For suspending the snowflake in the solution
- 1 piece Small jar or container To hold the Borax solution
- 1 piece Scissors For cutting the string
- to taste optional Glitter To enhance the sparkle of the crystals
Instructions
Prepare Your Shape
- Take several pipe cleaners and twist them together to form a snowflake shape.
- Cut a piece of string about 10 inches long to help suspend your snowflake.
Create the Solution
- In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
- Carefully add 1 cup of Borax to the boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved.
Assemble and Suspend
- Tie one end of the string to the top of your pipe cleaner snowflake.
- Place the snowflake into a jar or container filled with the Borax solution, ensuring it hangs freely.
Let It Crystalize
- Leave the jar undisturbed for 6-8 hours or overnight for crystals to form.
- After sufficient crystallization, carefully remove the snowflake and let it dry on a paper towel.
Optional Step
- Sprinkle some glitter on the wet crystals to enhance sparkle if desired.
Notes
