Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 cup Borax For creating the solution
  • 2 cups Boiling water To mix the Borax
  • various pieces Pipe cleaners In various colors, for the snowflake shapes
  • 1 piece String To suspend the snowflake
  • 1 piece Pencil or stick For suspending the snowflake in the solution
  • 1 piece Small jar or container To hold the Borax solution
  • 1 piece Scissors For cutting the string
  • to taste optional Glitter To enhance the sparkle of the crystals

Instructions
 

Prepare Your Shape

  • Take several pipe cleaners and twist them together to form a snowflake shape.
  • Cut a piece of string about 10 inches long to help suspend your snowflake.

Create the Solution

  • In a pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil.
  • Carefully add 1 cup of Borax to the boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved.

Assemble and Suspend

  • Tie one end of the string to the top of your pipe cleaner snowflake.
  • Place the snowflake into a jar or container filled with the Borax solution, ensuring it hangs freely.

Let It Crystalize

  • Leave the jar undisturbed for 6-8 hours or overnight for crystals to form.
  • After sufficient crystallization, carefully remove the snowflake and let it dry on a paper towel.

Optional Step

  • Sprinkle some glitter on the wet crystals to enhance sparkle if desired.

Notes

Consider creating a whole set of snowflakes in various colors and sizes for a multi-dimensional display. Use your snowflakes as gifts, attaching them to holiday cards or wrapping.
