Ingredients
  

For the Dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat or gluten-free flour.
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar Optional, helps elasticity.
  • Food coloring (various colors) Add to achieve desired shades.
  • Glow in the dark powder (optional) To enhance the glow effect.

  • 1 Black light (for glow effect) Enhances the fun.

Instructions
 

Mixing the Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and cream of tartar until well blended.
  • Slowly stir in the vegetable oil and water while mixing continuously with a spoon or whisk.
  • Divide the mixture into separate bowls, and add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl, mixing until you achieve your desired colors.
  • If desired, mix in glow in the dark powder to each colored dough for that magical glow effect.

Cooking the Dough

  • Transfer the mixture into a large saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly.
  • As the mixture thickens, it will begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  • Once it forms a ball (usually 3-5 minutes), remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly. Knead it with your hands until smooth.

Storing the Dough

  • Allow the dough to cool completely before storing it in an airtight container.
  • It can last for several weeks if kept dry.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring combinations, add essential oils for scents, or incorporate glitter for added texture.
