Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 set Liquid food coloring (multiple colors) Adjust to desired hues.

Equipment

  • 1 large pot large pot
  • 1 each spoon for stirring
  • 1 each airtight container for storage

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. Stir well to ensure there are no lumps.
  • In a separate pot, mix the water and vegetable oil and add several drops of liquid food coloring into the mix.

Cooking

  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients in your pot and stir thoroughly to combine.
  • Place the pot on the stove over medium heat and continuously stir the mixture as it begins to thicken, about 3-5 minutes, until a dough-like consistency forms.
  • Remove the dough from heat when it forms a solid mass and immediately incorporate the glow-in-the-dark powder, mixing well.

Cooling and Storing

  • Allow the dough to cool slightly until warm but not too hot to handle.
  • Once cool enough, knead the dough with your hands until smooth and pliable.
  • Place your dough in an airtight container to keep it fresh.

Notes

You can experiment with color mixing and scented variations by adding essential oils. For a softer texture, try mixing in cornstarch gradually. If glow-in-the-dark powder isn't available, consider using shimmering glitter or highlighter ink diluted in water.
