Preparation

  • Choose a well-ventilated area to work in.
  • Lay down parchment paper or aluminum foil on your baking sheet for easy cleanup.
  • Take your crayons and break them into small pieces.
  • Scatter crayon pieces in your desired pattern or color scheme on the baking sheet.

Melting Crayons

  • Preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Once warmed, carefully place the baking sheet inside.
  • Watch as the wax begins to melt and the colors blend beautifully.

Creating the Sun Catcher

  • While the wax is still soft, place a piece of wax paper or glass over the melted crayons.
  • Gently press down to ensure they spread evenly.
  • Allow the melted crayons to cool and harden completely, about 30 minutes.

Finishing Touches

  • Gently peel the wax from the parchment paper or lift it from the glass.
