Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Food coloring (variety of colors) Add drops according to color preference.

Materials

  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spoon
  • Fork for kneading
  • Airtight container for storage

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of cream of tartar. Whisk the dry ingredients until well blended.
  • Gradually add 2 cups of water and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to the dry mixture. Stir with a spoon until a smooth consistency forms.

Cooking

  • Transfer the mixture to a non-stick pot. Cook over medium heat, stirring continuously with a fork. As you stir, the dough will thicken and begin to pull away from the sides of the pot.

Kneading

  • Once the dough forms a ball and is no longer sticky, remove it from the pot. Allow it to cool slightly, then knead it on a clean surface for a few minutes.

Coloring

  • Divide the dough into sections based on the number of colors you want. In each section, add a few drops of food coloring. Knead each section until the color is evenly distributed.

Storage

  • Place your Rainbow Soda Dough in an airtight container to keep it fresh. Enjoy your colorful creation!

Notes

Customize colors with gel food coloring for more vibrant hues. Add essential oils for scent, or mix in glitter for added texture. The dough lasts 1-2 weeks in an airtight container.
