  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • variety of colors drops Food coloring Use a selection of colors for customization.

Materials

  • 1 Ziploc bags or small bowls For mixing colored sugar.
  • Baking sheet (optional for drying) To firm up the sugar.
  • Parchment paper (optional) To line the baking sheet.
  • 1 Small spoon or stirrer For mixing color into sugar.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start with a bowl or Ziploc bag for each color you want to use.
  • Pour 1/4 cup of granulated sugar into each container.

Add Color

  • Add a few drops of food coloring to each sugar container. Remember: Less is more! You can always add more color later.

Mix It Up

  • Use a spoon or stirrer to mix the food coloring into the sugar. Watch the sugar change color as you combine!

Let It Dry

  • Spread the colored sugar on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper if you want to firm it up.
  • Let it dry for about 10-15 minutes until it's no longer sticky.

Layer Your Sugar

  • Once all colors are ready, layer them in a clear jar or container for a beautiful display.
  • Use a spoon to create artistic layering patterns!

Notes

Customize colors and textures. Can substitute sugar with salt for a savory twist. Store in an airtight container for several months.
