  • 4-5 pieces Wooden skewers or string Used to create a base for crystal growth.
  • 1 piece Pot for boiling To boil water for the sugar solution.
  • 1 piece Spoon for stirring For mixing the sugar into the water.
  • 1 piece Heat-resistant surface To allow for safe boiling.

Instructions

Prepare the Sugar Solution

  • In a pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  • Gradually add 2-3 cups of granulated sugar, stirring continuously until all the sugar dissolves.
  • Divide the sugar solution into different jars and add a few drops of food coloring for each jar.

Set the Crystals

  • Wet wooden skewers or strings, then roll them in sugar to create a base layer.
  • Place the skewered sticks or strings into the jars so that they don’t touch the bottom.
  • Seal the jars with a cloth to avoid contaminants while allowing air circulation.

Monitor Growth

  • Place the jars in a quiet spot where they won’t be disturbed.
  • Check regularly for crystal formation and allow them to grow until you are satisfied with their size.

Notes

Experiment with different colors and shapes. Store crystals in a cool, dry place to prevent melting. Handle jars gently to avoid disturbing formed crystals.
