  • 5 colors food coloring (5 different colors recommended) Use various colors for a vibrant display.
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • ½ cup vinegar

Supplies

  • 1 set Small mixing bowls

Instructions
 

Prepare the Colored Sugar

  • In small mixing bowls, pour 1 cup of granulated sugar and add a few drops of food coloring to each bowl.
  • Stir thoroughly until the sugar is evenly colored. Aim for vibrant hues!

Create the Layers

  • In a clear plastic cup or jar, start layering the colored sugars.
  • Alternate colors, gently pouring each type of sugar on top of the previous one to create distinct layers.
  • Notice how the layers remain separated, giving a rainbow effect.

Initiate the Fizz

  • In a separate container, combine ½ cup of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of baking soda.
  • Stir vigorously and observe the bubbling reaction. The fizzing acts as a great science experiment!

Combine and Enjoy

  • Carefully pour the fizz mixture over your layered sugars.

Notes
