Ingredients
  

Materials

  • 1 sheet Clear plastic sheets (e.g., from packaging or disposable containers)
  • various colors Permanent markers for coloring the hearts
  • 1 each Scissors
  • 1 template Heart-shaped template (printable or drawn)
  • 1 each Hole puncher
  • 1 length String or fishing line for hanging the hearts
  • 1 each Hot glue gun (optional for additional embellishments)
  • as desired Beads or other decorative elements (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Set up a clean, flat area where you can spread out your materials.
  • Lay down newspaper or an old cloth to catch any spills.

Template Creation

  • If using a printable heart shape, print it out. Alternatively, draw hearts freehand on a piece of paper.
  • Cut out the heart shapes to use as templates.

Tracing and Coloring

  • Place the template on a clear plastic sheet and trace around it with a permanent marker.
  • You can make multiple hearts in different sizes.
  • Use various colors to fill in the heart shapes. Consider blending colors for a gradient effect.
  • Let the ink dry completely to avoid smudging.

Cutting and Hanging

  • Carefully cut out the hearts from the plastic sheets using scissors.
  • Use the hole puncher to make a hole at the top of each heart.
  • Cut a piece of string or fishing line and tie it through the hole for hanging.

Display

  • Hang your sun catchers in windows where they’ll catch the sunlight and create beautiful rainbows.

Notes

Consider trying colored cellophane for an even brighter effect, use glitter or sequins for extra flair, or create themed sun catchers for different seasons.
