Ingredients
  

For the Crystal Flowers

  • 2 cups Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1 pint Fresh raspberries Gently washed
  • 2 medium Fresh plums Pitted and sliced

For the Project

  • Parchment paper
  • Food-safe paintbrush (optional) For applying syrup

Instructions
 

Prepare the Fruit

  • Rinse the raspberries gently under cool water.
  • Slice the plums in half, remove the pits, and slice them into thin wedges.

Create the Sugar Syrup

  • In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with 2 cups of granulated sugar and heat until sugar dissolves.
  • Remove the syrup from heat and let it cool slightly until warm.

Coat the Fruit

  • Dip the raspberries and plum slices into the warm sugar syrup until completely coated.
  • Arrange the coated fruit on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Crystalize

  • Allow the fruit to sit for 24-48 hours at room temperature to crystalize.
  • Once dry, check that the coating is firm and creates a satisfying crunch when bitten.

Notes

Experiment with other fruits like strawberries or kiwi. Optional flavoring of sugar syrup with vanilla or lemon zest can be done. Use cookie cutters for fun shapes.
