  • 1 piece Clean plastic bottle (1.5 or 2-liter size)
  • 1 bag Potting soil Easy to find at garden centers
  • 1 bunch Small flowers or herbs Your choice for color and fragrance
  • 1 piece Twine or sturdy string Optional for hanging
  • 1 piece Scissors For cutting the bottle
  • 1 set Paint or decorative materials Optional for personalizing your planter
  • 1 piece Small drill or a sharp object For creating drainage holes, if desired

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Rinse the plastic bottle out well and remove any labels.
  • Carefully cut the bottle in half using scissors.
  • If desired, create drainage holes in the bottle's base using a small drill or a sharp object.
  • Add a layer of potting soil to the bottom half of the bottle.
  • Select your flowers or herbs and plant them into the soil.
  • If desired, place the top half of the bottle upside down over the bottom half.
  • Cut a length of twine or sturdy string to attach to the bottle for hanging.
  • Hang your planter in a cozy spot and admire your work.

Notes

Water your plants as needed, allowing moisture to seep through drainage holes. You can also change the plants or herbs by detaching the twine and removing them.
