Salt Dough Ornaments

Ingredients
  

For the dough

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup water Gradually add to the dry ingredients

For decoration

  • as needed acrylic paints For painting the ornaments
  • as needed string or ribbon For hanging the ornaments

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt.
  • Gradually mix in 1 cup of water. Stir until a dough forms.

Kneading the Dough

  • Transfer the dough to a clean surface.
  • Knead it for about 5-10 minutes until it is smooth and pliable.

Rolling Out the Dough

  • Using a rolling pin, roll the dough to about ¼ inch thick.
  • Sprinkle some flour on your surface to prevent sticking.

Cutting Out Shapes

  • Use cookie cutters to press out shapes from the rolled dough.
  • Make sure to create a small hole at the top of each shape for hanging.

Baking the Ornaments

  • Preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C).
  • Place the shapes on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • Bake for 2-3 hours or until the ornaments are hard.

Cooling and Decorating

  • Allow the baked ornaments to cool completely.
  • Paint and decorate them as you desire!

Notes

Consider adding food coloring to the dough for colorful ornaments and sealing them with a clear varnish after decorating to make them last longer.
