Instructions

Mix the Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt.
  • Gradually stir in 1 cup of water until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough

  • Transfer the dough onto a clean surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and pliable.
  • Enjoy the soft texture and slight saltiness of the dough as you work.

Roll Out the Dough

  • Dust your surface with flour to prevent sticking.
  • Use a rolling pin to roll the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.

Cut Out Shapes

  • Use cookie cutters to make fun shapes.
  • Consider pressing down lightly to imprint designs.
  • Use a straw or small object to poke holes for hanging.

Prepare for Baking

  • Place the cut-out shapes onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Ensure they’re spaced apart to allow heat circulation.

Bake the Ornaments

  • Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
  • Bake for 2-3 hours, or until dry and hard. Monitor closely to avoid burning.

Cool and Decorate

  • Allow the ornaments to cool completely.
  • Once cool, get creative with paints, glitter, and other decorations!

Notes

Customize thickness of the ornaments and experiment with different ingredients for variation. Preserve your finished ornaments with a clear acrylic sealant.
