Materials

  • 1 piece White cardstock or canvas
  • 1 bottle Liquid school glue
  • 1 cup Salt
  • 1 set Watercolor paint or food coloring
  • 1 piece Paintbrushes
  • 1 small container for mixing
  • 1 piece Tray or large baking sheet To catch excess salt
  • Optional as desired Glitter For extra sparkle

Instructions

Prepare Your Canvas

  • Lay down newspaper or a disposable tablecloth to keep your workspace clean.
  • Use the liquid school glue to create your fireworks patterns on the cardstock or canvas. Swirls and bursts work best!

Apply Salt

  • While the glue is still wet, generously sprinkle salt over your glue designs. Ensure all glue areas are covered.
  • Allow the salt to absorb some of the glue for a few minutes.

Painting Time

  • In a small container, mix watercolor paint or food coloring with a bit of water to create a vibrant solution.
  • Using a brush, drop colored water onto the salt-covered glue. Watch the colors spread through the salt – the effect is mesmerizing!
  • Add more colors and paint as desired. Each drop will create unique bursts of color.

Drying

  • Place your artwork flat in a safe area to dry completely. This may take several hours.
  • Once dry, consider adding glitter for extra sparkle.
