Ingredients

  • 1 container Clear glass or plastic container e.g., jar
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil
  • 1 cup Water Fill the container about one-third full
  • 1 tbsp Salt Regular table salt works best
  • a few drops Food coloring (optional) To create colorful effects
  • 1 spoon Spoon or stir stick For mixing

Preparation

  • Choose a clear container to enhance visibility and make sure it is clean and dry before starting.

Setup

  • Pour water into the container, filling it about one-third full.
  • Slowly pour vegetable oil into the container until it’s nearly full.
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to the water layer.

Create the Lava Effect

  • Sprinkle salt into the container and watch as the colorful bubbles rise and fall.
  • Enjoy the mesmerizing show as the reaction continues.

Notes

Try different oils, colors, and containers for unique displays. Add glitter for extra sparkle!
