Ingredients

Volcano Structure

  • 1 cup fine salt Essential for creating the volcano structure.
  • 1 cup flour Used to create moldable dough.
  • 1 cup water To mix with salt and flour.

Eruption Ingredients

  • 1 cup vinegar Creates the volcanic eruption when combined with baking soda.
  • 1 tbsp food coloring Use red or yellow for a lava effect.

Supplies

  • 1 unit container (such as a plastic cup or small bowl) To hold the vinegar for the eruption.
  • 1 unit baking tray To catch overflow during the eruption.
  • 1 unit spoon or stirrer For mixing ingredients.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Place your container in the center of the baking tray to catch any overflow during the eruption.

Make the Volcano

  • In a bowl, mix 1 cup of fine salt and 1 cup of flour. Add just enough water to make a moldable dough.
  • Shape the dough around your container, creating a volcano design. Ensure the top is open for the 'lava' to flow out.

Prepare the Lava

  • In a small cup, mix vinegar with drops of food coloring to represent the lava color.

Erupt the Volcano

  • Pour the colored vinegar mixture into the container at the top of the volcano.
  • Stand back and watch as the mixture bubbles and erupts out of the volcano!

Notes

Customize colors and textures by experimenting with different food colorings and materials like sugar or rice for different lava effects. Adding glitter can create a sparkling lava effect.
