Ingredients
  

Volcano Structure

  • 1 cup salt
  • 1 cup flour
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • food coloring (various colors) To color the volcano
  • 1 small plastic or paper cup For the volcano's crater
  • 1 baking tray or dish baking tray or dish To catch overflow

Eruption Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • Optional: Glitter for extra sparkle To enhance visual appeal

Instructions
 

Create the Volcano Structure

  • In a bowl, combine 1 cup of salt, 1 cup of flour, and ½ cup of water. Stir until the mixture forms a dough-like consistency.
  • Mold the salt dough into a volcano shape around a small plastic or paper cup in the center, ensuring an opening at the top for the eruption.

Add Color

  • Use food coloring to tint the outside or inside of the volcano, mixing for a marbled effect.
  • Add glitter to the damp volcano for a shimmering effect if desired.

Prepare for Eruption

  • Place your volcano on a baking tray or dish to catch any overflow during the eruption.
  • In the cup at the top of the volcano, add 1 tablespoon of baking soda.

Erupt the Volcano

  • Pour vinegar into the cup with baking soda and watch the mixture fizz and erupt over the edges of your volcano.
  • You can continuously add more baking soda and vinegar for multiple eruptions.

Notes

Experiment with different food coloring for vibrant eruptions, layer colors for effects, and add essential oils for scented eruptions. You can substitute corn syrup or dish soap for a thicker lava effect.
