Ingredients
  

Candle Base

  • 1 lb Wax (soy wax, beeswax, or paraffin) Choose your preferred type of wax.
  • 1 pcs Wick (cotton or wooden) Select a wick suitable for the size of your candle.

Aromatics & Color

  • 1 oz Fragrance oil (essential oils or candle-specific scent) Use recommended amount for best results.
  • as needed units Dye (optional, for color) Incorporate dye to achieve your desired color.

Equipment

  • 1 pcs Heat-safe container (glass jar, tin, or mold) Choose an appropriate container for your candle.
  • 1 pcs Double boiler or microwave-safe bowl For melting the wax.
  • 1 pcs Thermometer To check the temperature of the melted wax.
  • 1 pcs Stirring utensil (wooden stick or spoon)
  • 1 pcs Wick holder (pencil or chopstick) To keep wick upright while pouring.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Clear a flat surface and cover it with newspaper or a baking sheet to catch any spills.
  • Gather all your materials and tools for easy access.

Melting the Wax

  • Calculate the wax needed: Use about double the volume of your container for accurate measurements.
  • If using solid wax, cut it into smaller pieces for quicker melting.
  • For the double boiler method, fill the bottom pot with water and bring to a simmer. Add wax to the top pot and stir occasionally.
  • For the microwave method, heat wax in intervals of 30 seconds, stirring in between until fully melted.

Adding Scents and Color

  • Wait for the melted wax to reach around 185°F (85°C).
  • Mix in fragrance oil and stir well.
  • If desired, incorporate dye to achieve your desired color.

Finishing Touches

  • Dip the bottom of the wick in the melted wax and place it in the center of the container.
  • Use a wick holder to keep it upright while pouring.
  • Allow the wax to cool to about 150°F (65°C) before slowly pouring the wax into the container.
  • Allow the candle to sit undisturbed for several hours or overnight.
  • Once cool, trim the wick to ¼ inch above the wax.

Notes

Experiment with different waxes, colors, and scents. Consider themed candles for special occasions. Store unused candles in a cool, dark place.
