  • 1 jar Clear glass jar (mason jar or similar) Ensure it is clean and dry.
  • assorted pieces Assorted sea glass pieces (various sizes and colors) Use glass found at local beaches or colored glass beads.
  • 1 gun Hot glue gun and glue sticks Quick drying and holds securely.
  • optional Tweezers For precision handling of smaller pieces.
  • 1 light LED tealights or small candles For lighting the lantern.
  • optional Twine or ribbon For decoration around the top of the jar.

Preparation

  • Gather all your materials in a well-lit workspace.
  • Ensure your glass jar is clean and dry for optimal adhesion.

Design Planning

  • Lay out your sea glass pieces to visualize your pattern.
  • Choose a color scheme that speaks to you, whether it's cool blues or warm ambers.

Gluing

  • Begin at the bottom of the jar and work your way up.
  • Apply a small amount of hot glue to the back of a sea glass piece and attach it to the jar.
  • Press and hold for a few seconds to ensure it adheres well.

Filling Gaps

  • Continue gluing additional pieces, overlapping them slightly to fill gaps.
  • Use tweezers for smaller pieces for precision handling.

Adding Lighting

  • Once the glue is set, place an LED tealight or small candle inside the jar.
  • Turn off the lights to see the beautiful glow reflecting through the glass.

Final Touches

  • If desired, tie twine or ribbon around the top of the jar for added charm.

Notes

Experiment with different types of glass and create themed lanterns. For a rustic look, lightly sand the edges of the jar.
