Materials for Experiment

  • 1 container Clear plastic or glass container About 3/4 full with water
  • 1 can Shaving cream (preferably unscented) To minimize mess
  • various drops Food coloring Choose multiple colors
  • 3/4 full Water Base for the experiment
  • 1 spoon Spoon or dropper for food coloring To add color to the shaving cream
  • optional number Small straws or pipettes For added fun

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Fill the clear container about 3/4 full with water.

Create the Cloud

  • Gently squirt a layer of shaving cream on top of the water.
  • Use a spoon to spread the shaving cream evenly.

Add Color

  • Using a dropper or spoon, add drops of food coloring onto the shaving cream.
  • Observe how the colors seep through the shaving cream, resembling rain.

Enjoy and Experiment

  • Keep adding more food coloring to see different reactions.
  • Discuss the science behind the reactions observed.

Notes
