Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup shaving cream Aerosol or foam works well; easy to find.
  • 1 cup cornstarch Substitute-friendly with powdered sugar.

Equipment

  • 1 medium-sized mixing bowl For mixing the foam.
  • 1 spoon for stirring Wooden or sturdy plastic.
  • food coloring Optional, for adding a pop of color.
  • storage container For keeping your finished foam.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by measuring one cup of shaving cream. Pour it gently into your mixing bowl. Enjoy the sound as the cream flows in, creating a soft mound.
  • Next, measure one cup of cornstarch. Sprinkle it over the shaving cream, observing how it lightly falls and sits atop the cream.
  • Use your spoon to start mixing the two together. The foam will start to grow in volume, becoming fluffy and airy. Allow your hands to guide the spoon with gentle movements.
  • As the ingredients combine, switch to using your hands. Feel the transformation as you knead the mixture. It should become soft and pliable, almost like clouds beneath your fingertips.
  • If you'd like, add a few drops of food coloring at this point. This will give your snow foam a gentle hue. Fold it in gradually, watching the colors blend and dance together.
  • Once fully mixed, take a moment to explore the texture. Notice its softness, the way it can be molded and shaped. Let it sit for a few minutes, allowing it to settle and form.
  • Now, it's ready for play. You can make small figures or just enjoy the sensory experience of the foam slipping through your fingers.

Notes

Store your Snow Foam Sensory Play in an airtight container to maintain its fresh texture. If the foam loses fluffiness, consider adding extra shaving cream or cornstarch to revive it. Experiment with different scents or textures to enhance your sensory experience.
